Yes, your 2nd grader will have homework. We focus on Reading, Math and Spelling. It is designed to not take all night, but to get you involved in your child's learning. They will bring home a homework reader that is on their ability level Mon-Thurs. and be expected to return the reader to me on Friday. They will be given a short comprehension quiz over what they have read all week. A Math Minute homework will be sent home on Mon-Thurs. as well. It is a 10 question sheet that has basic math skills. They will get credit for completing and turning it in, as well as earning Yort Bucks too. And finally, Spelling. I do not intend for you to spend a great deal of time on spelling every night because they will get exposure to their words during our reading block. But, some practice at home may be required. Lists will go home on Mondays in their F.L.O.W.E.R folders with a test given on Fridays. You can also find your child's weekly spelling list on www.spellingcity.com. Look under Shawnee, Ok and then Jefferson. Have fun learning with your child.
